Cricket fraternity sends out wishes for Eid

Cricketers like Moeen Ali and Farhaan Behardien have been on field during the holy month of Ramzan playing against Sri Lanka and Tri-Nation Series 2016 respectively.

As the world celebrates Eid on Wednesday, cricketers took some time out to wish their fans on this religious occasion. Cricketers across the globe Moeen Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Hafeez, Dean Jones, Farhaan Behardien, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan, Kumar Sangakkara and others sent out wishes to their loved ones. Eid is celebrated by Muslims across the globe and is celebrated with entire family. In India, people generally greet each other saying Eid Mubarak and gifts are exchanged. Giving loved ones new clothes is part of the tradition and elders give children small sum of money. The children in return offer ‘salaam’ to their elders.

Some cricketers were on the field during this holy month like Moeen Ali who was playing for England against Sri Lanka, while Farhaan Behardien was playing for South Africa in Tri-Nation Series in West Indies. Pakistan cricketers are also busy preparing for their tour against England starting July 14. The holiday celebrates the end of 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the world month of Ramadan. Eid falls on the first day of the month of Shawwal.

Pakistan have already begun their preparations with tour match against Somerset that ended in a draw on Day 3. They dominated the game for most part and in the end were denied a win as Somerset played the remaining overs and ended the day with two wickets in hand. It was a good outing for the visiting side as they had a huge lead in the first innings and then gave a stiff target to Somerset of 468. Somerset had a slightly better outing with the bat in the second innings, after their horrible first innings score of 128. Marcus Trescothick — the most experienced player from the Somerset camp — scored a vital ton to draw the game for his side.
